The Book of Mormon:
A history written on metal plates by Mormon,
based on the plates of Nephi,
and translated by Joseph Smith, Jr.
This is a short history of the people of Nephi (the Nephites), and of the Lamanites. It has been written to the Lamanites, who are part of the House of Israel. It has also been written to the Jews and the Gentiles. It was written by commandment and by the spirit of prophecy and revelation. This history was written and hidden under God’s protection so it would not be destroyed. It will come to light and be translated by the gift and power of God. Moroni (Mormon’s son) finished the history and hid it under God’s protection. It will be given to the world at the right time through the Gentiles. The translation will also be given by the gift of God.
This is also a short history taken from the Book of Ether, which is a history of the people of Jared (Jaredites). They were scattered at the time the Lord changed people’s languages as they were building a tower to get to heaven. This history is written to show the Lamanites (who are part of the House of Israel) the great things the Lord has done for their ancestors, and so they will know that they will not be cut off forever. This was also written to help both Jew and Gentile know that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, and that he shows himself to all nations. Now if there are mistakes, they are people’s mistakes. Do not condemn what comes from God, so you will be found clean when Christ judges you.
