Mosiah — Chapter 3
King Benjamin continues to talk to his people.
Please pay attention, brothers and sisters, because I have more things to say to you, and I will tell you about what is going to happen.
This is what one of God’s angels told me. First, he said to me: “Wake up!” I woke up and saw him standing in front of me.
And he said to me: “Wake up and hear the happy news I have come to tell you about.
“The Lord has heard your prayers. He knows you are a good man. He has sent me to tell you to be happy, and also to tell you to tell your people to be happy,
“Because not long from now, the Lord God who rules from eternity to eternity will come down from heaven to live in a mortal body. He will live among people and do many great miracles–healing the sick and raising the dead, and making blind people see and deaf people hear.
“He will throw out the devil, or the evil spirits which live in people’s hearts.
“He will be tempted and be hungry and thirsty and tired. He will suffer more than any person can suffer without dying. His body will bleed from the pain and sadness he will feel because his people are so wicked.
“His name will be Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Maker of heaven and earth. His mother’s name will be Mary.
“He will come to his own people to save them and to save all people who believe in him. Even though he will do many wonderful things, most people will say he is only a man, and in the devil’s power. They will whip him and nail him on a cross to die.
“But after he has been dead for three days, he will rise from the dead. He will be able to judge people fairly because of the things he suffered in this life.
“His blood will pay for the sins of those who did not know about God, and who did not keep God’s commandments only because they did not know about them.
“But woe to those who know they are not doing what God wants them to! They will not be saved unless they repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
“The Lord has sent his holy prophets to people all over the earth to tell them to believe that Christ will come, so they can be forgiven of their sins and have great happiness and joy even before Jesus comes to earth.
“But the Lord saw that his people were stubborn, so he gave them the Law of Moses.
“He showed them many signs and wonders to help them know when he comes, and all the holy prophets have talked about his coming. But they hardened their hearts and did not want to understand that the Law of Moses can do them no good without Christ’s sacrifice.
“If little children could sin, they could not be saved. But I tell you that they are blessed. They fall because of Adam and Eve, or nature, but the blood of Jesus pays for their sins.
“There is no other way for people to be saved except in and through the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
“He is the judge, and he judges fairly. A baby who dies will be saved, but people will not be saved unless they are like little children and believe that the Lord Jesus Christ will save them.
“People are enemies to God and have been since the fall of Adam and Eve. And they always will be unless they listen to the Holy Spirit and become saints through Christ the Lord, and become like children — easy to teach, humble, patient, full of love, and willing to go through whatever the Lord thinks is best for them, just as little children are willing to do what their parents say.
“I tell you that the time will come when everyone all over the world will know about the Savior.
“Everyone will have to repent and believe in Jesus so they will not be guilty before God, except for children who are too young to understand about him.
“After you have taught your people the things God has told you to teach , they will have to repent and believe in Jesus Christ.
“And now I have told you what God has told me to tell you.”
This is what God says: “I will judge your people on the day of judgment by the things I told you to tell them. They will be judged by the good or evil things they do.
“If they are evil people, they will see their wickedness and feel guilt and pain and sadness. They will be ashamed to be close to the Lord, so they will go away to a terrible place. They will have damned themselves.”
This is the punishment of God’s anger, and there can be no mercy for those who choose to be damned, just as Adam and Eve could not stay in the Garden of Eden after eating the forbidden fruit.
They will have guilt and pain like burning forever. This is what God has told me to tell you.
