The Easy-to-Read Book of Mormon

Moroni — Chapter 10

Now I, Moroni, will write what I think is good. I am writing to my brothers and sisters, the Lamanites. I want them to know that four hundred twenty years have gone by since Christ was born.
I will hide these records under God’s protection after I write some things to you.
When you read this book — if God will let you read it — I want you to remember how much mercy God has had on people since the time of Adam and Eve even down to the time you read this. Think very hard about this in your heart.
And when you read this book, ask God the Father in Christ’s name if it is true. If you ask this with a sincere heart, with faith in Christ, and if you are willing to obey the truth, God will tell you it is true by the power of the Holy Ghost.
You can know the truth about all things by the power of the Holy Ghost.
Whatever is good is true. Good things will help you believe in Christ.
You will know that Christ lives by the power of the Holy Ghost. Do not deny God’s power. He works with power and by people’s faith, and he is the same today, tomorrow, and forever.
Brothers and sisters, do not deny God’s gifts. There are many gifts, and they all come from the same God. They work in different ways, but the same God makes them all work. They are given to people to help them.
The Spirit of God gives one person the power to teach wisdom.
His Spirit gives another power to teach knowledge.
Another is given the gift of great faith. Another is given the power to heal people.
Another is given the power to do great miracles.
Another is given power to prophesy about all things.
Another will be able to see angels and spirits.
Another will be able to speak in all different languages,
And another will be able to understand all different languages.
All these gifts come by the Spirit of Christ, and they are given to people as Christ thinks best.
Dear brothers and sisters, remember that every good gift comes from Christ.

And remember, my dear brothers and sisters, that he is the same yesterday, today and forever. All these spiritual gifts will never go away unless people stop having faith.
There must be faith; and if there is faith, there must be hope; and if there is hope, there must be charity.
If you do not have charity, you cannot be saved in God’s kingdom; and you cannot be saved in God’s kingdom if you do not have faith or hope.
If you do not have hope, you are in despair. Despair comes because of wickedness.
Christ said to our ancestors: “If you have faith, you can do everything I myself would do.”
Now I say to all the people of the earth: If the time comes that there are no gifts of God among you, it is because you do not have faith.
Woe to people if this is so, because it means that not one of you is doing good. If people are doing good, they are doing it by God’s gifts and power.
Woe to those who have no faith, who do no good things, and die. If they die in their sins, they will not be saved in God’s kingdom. I am telling you what Christ has said, and I am not lying.
Remember what I have said. The time will soon come when you will know I did not lie, because you will see me in front of God, and the Lord God will say to you: “Did I not tell you what you needed to do through the words this man wrote?”

I am writing these things so the prophecies will come true. These words come from God, and they will come out of the ground and go from generation to generation.
God will show you that what I have written is true.
Again, I tell you to come to Christ. Look for every good gift, but do not touch evil or unclean gifts.
Wake up and get up out of the dust, O Jerusalem. Put on your beautiful clothes, O daughter of Zion. Make your stakes and borders strong so you will not be defeated anymore, and so God’s promises to you will come true, O House of Israel.
Yes, come to Christ and be made perfect in him. Do not let yourselves do wicked things. If you keep God’s commandments, and love him with all your heart, mind, and strength, his grace will make you perfect in Christ. If you are perfect in Christ by the grace of God, you will not deny his power.
If you are perfect in Christ by the grace of God, and if you do not deny his power, then God’s grace and Christ’s sacrifice will make you holy in Christ. Your sins will be taken away, and you will be holy and clean before him, as the Father promised.
Now I say goodbye to you. I will soon rest in God’s paradise, until my spirit and body come together again, and I come through the air to meet you in front of Jehovah, the Eternal Judge of both the living and the dead. Amen.
