Jacob — Chapter 6
Jacob continues to talk to his people.
Now, brothers and sisters, since I told you I would prophesy, I prophesy that everything Zenos said will come true about the House of Israel (which he said was like a tame olive tree).
The Lord will gather his people for the second time when the Lord’s servants go with power to teach the gospel to the world. The end of the world is after that.
Those who have worked hard to teach the world will be very blessed, but those who do not believe the gospel and repent will be cursed and thrown away like bad branches. Then the world will be burned with fire.
God has had such mercy on us! He has remembered all the House of Israel, and he tries to help them and bless them each and every day, even though they are stubborn and proud people. But God will save everyone who keeps his commandments.
So, brothers and sisters, I beg you seriously to repent, and to come back to God with all your hearts, and be as close to God as he is to you. Don’t harden your hearts–repent while there is still time, while he can still have mercy on you.
Listen to him! Don’t harden your hearts. Why do you want to die?
After God’s gospel has fed you all your lives, are you going to do evil, so you must be thrown into the fire like the bad olive branches?
Won’t you listen to what I say? Won’t you listen to what so many prophets have said about Christ? Are you going to say there is no Christ, and no power of God nor of the Holy Ghost? Will you make the Holy Spirit leave you, and make fun of the great plan of salvation worked out for you?
Don’t you know that if you do these things, Christ’s power to resurrect you will bring you to stand in front of God, where you will feel terrible shame and guilt?
If that happens, justice will send you away to a place where you will feel such guilt and shame and pain that it will seem like being burned with fire forever.
O then, brothers and sisters, please repent, and choose the right way, and be baptized, and keep on doing what is right, so you will be able to live with God forever.
Be wise. What more can I say?
And now I tell you goodbye, until the time I see you in front of God, where the wicked will feel terrible fear and shame. Amen.
