Ether — Chapter 7
Orihah ruled the land righteously for all of his very long life.
He had thirty-one children–twenty-three sons and eight daughters.
When he was an old man, he had a son named Kib, who became the next king. Kib had a son named Corihor.
When Corihor was thirty-two years old, he rebelled against his father and went to live in the land of Nehor, where he had many beautiful sons and daughters. Many people decided to follow Corihor.
When Corihor had enough people to make an army, he went to the land of Moron and took the king prisoner. (So, what Jared’s brother said came true — having a king led to slavery.)
The land of Moron, where King Kib lived, was close to the place the Nephites call Desolation.
Kib lived in captivity under Corihor’s rule until he was a very old man. While he was in slavery as an old man, he had a son named Shule.
Shule was angry with his brother Corihor, and became a very strong and smart man.
He went to the hill called Ephraim to get metal, and made swords of steel for the people who followed him. Then he fought his brother Corihor at the city of Nehor and won back the kingdom for his father Kib.
Then Kib gave the kingdom to Shule because of what he had done.
Shule ruled and judged righteously, and his kingdom grew, because there were more and more people.
Shule himself had many sons and daughters.
Corihor repented of what he had done, so Shule gave Corihor some power to rule, too.
Corihor had many sons and daughters. One of his sons was named Noah.
Noah rebelled against Shule and his father Corihor. Noah’s brother Cohor followed him, along with all his brothers, and many of the people.
He fought against King Shule and won part of the land. Then he became king over the land where the people had first lived.
Noah fought Shule again, and took him prisoner, and took him to the land of Moron.
Just as Noah was going to kill Shule, Shule’s sons came to Noah’s house at night and killed Noah. They broke down the prison door and saved their father, and took him back to his own kingdom.
Noah’s son ruled in Noah’s kingdom, and did not win any more land from King Shule. King Shule’s people became rich and had many children.
The country was divided into the kingdom of Shule and the kingdom of Cohor, Noah’s son.
Cohor made his people fight Shule. Shule beat them and killed Cohor.
Cohor had a son named Nimrod, who gave his kingdom back to Shule, so Shule let him do what he wanted.them to choose a king to rule over them.
During Shule’s reign, God sent many prophets to the people to tell them to repent and stop worshiping false gods, or the land would be cursed and they would be destroyed.
The people persecuted the prophets, but King Shule punished the people who persecuted them.
Shule made a law that the prophets could go wherever they wanted in the land. This was why the people began to repent.
The Lord saved them from being destroyed because they repented of their sins, and he helped them prosper in the land again. Shule had sons and daughters when he was an old man.
There were no more wars for the rest of Shule’s life. He had remembered the great things God had done for his ancestors in bringing them across the sea to the promised land, so he kept God’s commandments all his life, and ruled the land righteously.
