Ether — Chapter 11
While Com was king, many prophets came and told the people to repent of their murders and wickedness and come back to the Lord, or they would be destroyed.
The people would not listen to them, and tried to kill them, so the prophets went to Com for protection.
They prophesied many things to Com, and he was blessed for the rest of his life.
He lived to be very old, and had a son named Shiblom, who was the next king. But Shiblom’s brother rebelled against him, and a big war began in all the land.
Shiblom’s brother killed all the prophets who had said the people would be destroyed.
Terrible things were happening all over the land, because the prophets had said the land and the people would be cursed. They said the destruction would be more awful than anything that had ever happened before, and that the people’s bones would be piled up all over the land if they did not repent of their wickedness.
But the people would not listen to the Lord because of their evil secrets and promises, so there began to be wars and fights all over the land, and also more famines and sicknesses than there had ever been before. All this began while Shiblom was king.
Then the people began to repent, and the Lord had mercy on those who repented.
Then Shiblom was killed, and Seth was taken prisoner. Seth was a prisoner all his life.
Seth’s son, Ahah, took over the kingdom, and he was king over the people all his life. He was very wicked and killed many people, and he did not live very long.
Then Ethem, one of Ahah’s descendants, became king, and he was also wicked.
Many prophets came while Ethem was king and prophesied to the people that the Lord would completely destroy them if they did not repent of their sins.
But the people hardened their hearts and would not listen to the prophets. The prophets were very sad, and went away.
Ethem judged the people wickedly all his life, and then had a son named Moron. Moron became king, and he was also wicked.
Then some people rebelled because of the secret combination which was getting power and riches. A very wicked, strong man came and fought Moron, and won half the kingdom. He kept that half of the kingdom for many years.
Then Moron beat him and won back all the kingdom again.
Then another strong man came who was a descendant of Jared’s brother.
He fought Moron and won the kingdom. Moron was a prisoner for the rest of his life, and he had a son named Coriantor. Lib became king.
Coriantor was a prisoner all his life.
During Coriantor’s life, many prophets came and told the people about the many terrible things which would happen to them if they did not repent. The prophets said the Lord would completely destroy them.
The prophets also told the people that the Lord would use his power to bring other people to live in the land just as he had brought their ancestors to the land.
But the people would not listen to the prophets because of their evil secret combinations and wickedness.
Coriantor had a son named Ether, then he died. He had been a prisoner all his life.
