The Easy-to-Read Book of Mormon

Third Nephi — Chapter 9

Then all the people in the land heard a voice saying:

Woe, woe, woe to this people, and woe to all people on earth if they do not repent. The devil is laughing, and his angels are happy because of all my people who have been killed because of their wickedness!

I burned the great city of Zarahemla and its people with fire.

I sank the great city of Moroni in the sea, and its people were drowned.

I buried the great city of Moronihah and its people, to hide their wickedness from my face, so the blood of the prophets and saints would stop asking me for justice against them.

I sank the city of Gilgal in the sea, and its people were drowned.

Yes, I also sank the cities of Onihah and Mocum and Jerusalem, and drowned all the people in them. The waters have hidden their wickedness from my face, so the blood of the prophets and saints would stop asking me for justice against them.

I buried the cities of Gadiandi, Gadiomnah, Jacob, and Gimgimno, and made hills and valleys where they used to be. The people have all been buried to hide their wickedness from my face, so the blood of the prophets and saints would stop asking me for justice against them.

The great city of Jacobugath, where King Jacob lived, I burned with fire because of the people’s sins and wickedness. They were more wicked than the rest of the world. They destroyed my people’s peace and the government of the land because of their murders and secret combinations. This is why I burned them, to destroy them, and so the blood of the prophets and saints would stop asking me for justice against them.

I burned the cities and people of Laman, Josh, Gad, and Kishkumen, because of their wickedness in throwing out and stoning the prophets whom I sent to tell them about their sins.

None of them were righteous, because they threw out the prophets. That is why I sent down fire and destroyed them, so their wickedness would be hidden from my face, and so the blood of the prophets and saints would stop asking me for justice against them.

I have caused much destruction to come on this land and people because of their wickedness and sins.

O all of you who were saved because you were more righteous than they were, won’t you come back to me now and repent of your sins, and change your hearts, so I can heal you?

If you come to me, you will have eternal life. My arm of mercy is reaching out to you, and I will receive and bless whoever will come to me.

I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I made the heavens and the earth and everything in them. I was with the Father in the beginning. I am in the Father and the Father is in me, and I have brought glory to the Father’s name.

I came to my own people, but they would not believe in me. Now the scriptures which talked about my coming have come true.

I have given the power to become God’s sons and daughters to everyone who has believed in me. I will give that power to everyone who will believe in me, because I bring salvation, and I have finished the Law of Moses.

I am the light and life of the world. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.

I do not want you to kill animals to make sacrifices to me anymore. I will not accept them anymore.

Instead, I want you to give me a broken heart and a repentant spirit as a sacrifice. I will baptize with fire and the Holy Ghost whoever comes to me with a broken heart and a repentant spirit, just as I baptized the Lamanites with fire and the Holy Ghost when they were converted (even though they did not understand at first).

I have come into the world to bring salvation to the world, to save the world from sin.

I will receive whoever repents and comes to me like a little child, because they are the kind of people who will live in God’s kingdom. I have given up my life and taken it back again for them. So repent, and come to me, all you people of the earth, and be saved.
