Third Nephi — Chapter 26
After Jesus said these things to the people, he explained it all to them.
He said: “The Father commanded me to give you these scriptures which you did not have with you. It is part of his wise plan for future generations to have them.”
Then he explained everything from the beginning of the world until the time he would come in his glory. Yes, he talked about everything that would happen up to the time the earth would melt with great heat, and roll up like a scroll of paper, and the old earth and heaven would die,
And all the people of the earth would stand before God at the great and last day to be judged by their works, good or bad.
If their works are good, they will live again with God. If their works are evil, they will be damned (the one on the one hand, and the other on the other hand). All this will be done through the mercy and justice and holiness of Christ, who was before the world began.
I cannot write even a little part of all the things Jesus taught to the people.
But the plates of Nephi have most of the things he taught written on them.
I have written only a little bit of what he taught the people. I have written them so the Gentiles will bring these words again to this people, as Jesus said.
They will get this first to test their faith. After they receive this, if they believe these things, they will be shown greater things.
But if they don’t believe these things, they will not be shown greater things, and they will be condemned.
I was going to write the greater things which are written on the plates of Nephi, but the Lord told me not to, and said to me: “I will test my people’s faith.”
So I, Mormon, am writing the things the Lord has commanded me to write. I will stop writing my own words and keep on writing the things I have been commanded to write.
I want you to understand that the Lord truly taught the people for three days. After that, he showed himself to them often, and broke bread and blessed it and gave it to them often.
THe taught and helped the people’s children (the ones talked about before). He gave them power to say many great and wonderful things to their parents — things that were even greater than what he himself said to the people.
After he went up to heaven, and had gone to the Father the second time (after he healed their sick and lame, and blind and deaf, and raised a man from the dead, and shown his power to them) —
The next day the people gathered and heard and saw the things the children said. Even babies said wonderful things, but the people were told not to write them down.
After that, the disciples whom Jesus chose began to baptize and teach all the people who came to them. And everyone who was baptized in Jesus’ name was filled with the Holy Ghost.
Many of them saw and heard things they could not talk nor write about.
They taught and helped each other. Everyone shared everything they had with each other, and everyone was honest with each other.
They did everything Jesus commanded them to do.
All the people who were baptized in Jesus’ name belonged to the Church of Christ.
