Third Nephi — Chapter 24
Jesus continues talking to the Nephites–see Malachi 3.
Then Jesus commanded them to write down the words he would give them, which were the words the Father had given to Malachi. After they wrote down the words, he explained them to them, saying: This is what God the Father said to Malachi: “I will send my servant to prepare the way for me; then the Lord you are looking for — the promised One — will suddenly come to his temple.” God says he will come.
But who will be able to stand on the day he comes? He is like a very hot fire, and like very strong soap.
He will make the sons of Levi clean and make them pure like gold and silver, so they can make a righteous sacrifice to the Lord.
Then the sacrifices of Judah and Jerusalem will make the Lord happy, just as they did in olden times and in years before.
The Lord says: “I will come to judge you. I will judge against the witches and those who commit adultery, and against the liars and the wicked people who cheat those who work for them — who do not care about the widows and orphans, and throw out the strangers, and who do not care about me.
“I am the Lord, and I do not change, so you descendants of Jacob are not destroyed.
“Since the days of your ancestors you have not worshiped me right and have not kept my commandments.” The Lord says: “Come back to me and I will come back to you.” But you say: “What do you mean we have to come back?”
“Who will rob God? You have robbed me. But you say: ‘How have we robbed you?’ In your tithing and sacrifices.
“You are cursed because you and your whole nation have robbed me.”
The Lord says: “Bring all the tithing to my storehouse so there will be food in my house; and just see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and give you such wonderful blessings that you will not have room for them all.”
The Lord says: “I will protect you from the things which can destroy your crops. Your grapes will not fall off before they are ripe.”
The Lord says: “All nations will call you blessed, because your land will be a lovely and fruitful one.”
The Lord says: “You have said bad things against me. But you say: ‘What bad things have we said about you?’
“You have said: ‘It is no use to serve God. What blessings have we gotten from keeping his commandments?
Then those who loved God talked with each other often, and the Lord listened to them. A book was written to remember those who loved God and thought about his name.
Then those who loved God talked with each other often, and the Lord listened to them. A book was written to remember those who loved God and thought about his name.
The Lord says: “They will be mine at the time I make my jewels. I will save them just as parents save the children who serve them.”
Then you will come back and be able to see the difference between the righteous and the wicked — between those who serve God and those who do not.
