The Easy-to-Read Book of Mormon

Third Nephi — Chapter 20

Then he told the people and his disciples to stop praying, but not to stop praying in their hearts.

He commanded them to stand up, and they stood up.

Then he broke bread again, and blessed it, and gave it to the disciples to eat.

When they had eaten, he commanded them to break bread and give it to the people.

When they had given it to the people, Jesus gave them wine to drink and told them to give some to the people.

Now, the disciples and the people had not brought any bread nor wine with them,

But Jesus truly gave them bread to eat and wine to drink.

And he said to them: “Those who eat this bread eat my body to their souls, and those who drink this wine drink my blood to their souls. Their souls will never be hungry or thirsty, but will be filled.”

After the people had all eaten and drunk, they were filled with the Spirit, and they all shouted together and gave glory to Jesus, whom they saw and heard.

After they had given all glory to Jesus, he said to them: Now I will finish what the Father has commanded me [to do for] this people, who are part of the House of Israel.

Remember when I said to you that Isaiah’s words would come true? (What he has said has been written down, and you have his words, so study them.)

When Isaiah’s words come true, then the promise will come true which the Father made to his people, O House of Israel.

And then all the rest of his people who have been scattered all over the earth will be gathered together from the east and west, and from the north and south. They will learn about the Lord their God who saved them.

The Father commanded me to give this land to you.

I tell you, if the Gentiles do not repent after the blessing they will be given, after they scatter my people,

Then you, who are part of the House of Jacob, will go among them (and there will be many of them). You will be like a lion among the animals of the forest, and like a young lion among flocks of sheep, who destroys and rips apart, and no one can save them.

You will fight against all your enemies, and all your enemies will be destroyed.

I will gather my people together like people gather their grain in a barn.

I will make all the people [strong] to whom my Father made promises. Yes, I will make your sword steel and your shield brass. You will destroy many people. I will give everything they win to the Lord, and I will give all they have to the Lord of all the earth. I am the one who will do it.

The Father says: “The sword of my justice will come on them then. If they do not repent, it will fall on them. Yes, it will fall on all the nations of the Gentiles.i stood up in front of Jesus.

“Then I will build up my people, O House of Israel.

“I will build up this people in this land to keep the promise I made to your father Jacob, and it will be a New Jerusalem. The powers of heaven will be with this people. Yes, even I will be with you.”

I am the one Moses talked about when he said: “The Lord God will raise up a prophet from among your brothers who will be like me, and you will listen to what he says. Everyone who does not listen to that prophet will be cut off from among the people.”

All the prophets from Samuel to those who will come after me talk about me.

You are the descendants of the prophets, and you belong to the House of Israel, and you are part of the promise the Father made to your ancestors, when he said to Abraham: “Your descendants will bless all the families of the earth.”

The Father sent me to you first after I rose from the dead, and sent me to bless you for repenting of your sins. He did this because you are the children of the promise.

The Father did this so that after you were blessed, the promise would be kept which he made to Abraham, when he said: “Your descendants will bless all the families of the earth. I will give the Holy Ghost to the Gentiles. This blessing will make the Gentiles stronger than everyone else, and they will be able to scatter my people, O House of Israel.”

The Father says: “They will be like a whip for this people. But if the Gentiles harden their hearts against me after they have been given my full gospel, I will make the evil things they do become a punishment for them.”

The Father says: “I will remember the promise I made to my people. I have promised them that I will gather them together when the time is right, and give them the land of their ancestors, which is the promised land of Jerusalem, for them to keep forever.”

That will be when my full gospel is taught to them.

They will believe that I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and they will pray to the Father in my name.

Then their guards will shout for joy and sing together, because they will see the Lord bringing Zion again.

Then the Father will gather them together again and give them the land of Jerusalem forever.

Then they will say with joy: “Sing together, you broken places of Jerusalem, because the Father has comforted his people and saved Jerusalem.”

The Father has shown his arm to all the nations of the earth. All the earth will see the Father’s salvation. The Father and I are one.

Then what was written will happen: “Wake up, wake up again, and be strong, O Zion. Put on your beautiful clothes, O Jerusalem, the holy city, because from now on no more evil people will live in you.

“Shake off your dust. Wake up and stand up, O Jerusalem. Take the chains off your neck, O slave daughter of Zion.

“The Lord says: ‘You have sold yourselves for nothing, and you will be saved without money.’”

My people will know my name. Yes, at that time they will know I am the one speaking.

Then they will say: “How beautiful are the feet of him who brings them good news, who preaches peace; who tells them wonderful things, and brings them salvation; who says to Zion: ‘Your God rules!’”

Then this shout will be heard: “Get out, get out, go away from there, don’t touch anything unclean. Stay clean, you who carry the things of the Lord.

“You will not go out fast, or in secret, but the Lord will go in front of you, and the God of Israel will guard you in back.

“My wise servant will become great. He will be lifted up and praised and given great power.

“The same people who were surprised by him (because his face and body were scarred more than any other person’s) —

“These people will hear of him in many nations. Rulers will be surprised and will keep their mouths closed, because they will see that they had not really been told everything about him; and they will think about what they had not been told.”

All these things will happen just as the Father has commanded me. Then this promise the Father made to his people will be kept: my people will live in Jerusalem again, and it will be their land forever.
