The Easy-to-Read Book of Mormon

Second Nephi — Chapter 32

Brothers and sisters, I think you are wondering in your hearts about what you should do after you have been baptized. But why are you wondering?
Don’t you remember I told you that after you receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, you can speak as the angels speak? How could you speak as the angels speak without the Holy Ghost?
Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost, and that means they speak Christ’s words. So I tell you, study Christ’s words, because they will tell you everything you need to do.
If you cannot understand the things I have told you, it is because you will not study and pray about them. If you do not, then you will not be saved, but will die.
Again I tell you, if you are baptized and receive the Holy Ghost, the Holy Ghost will tell you everything you need to do.
This is what Christ teaches. Christ will not teach anything else until he comes and visits you. When he visits you, then you must do the things he tells you to do.
Now I, Nephi, cannot say any more about this, because the Spirit has told me not to. I am sad because of people’s unbelief, and wickedness, and stubbornness. They do not want to learn. They will not look for truth, and they do not understand great truth, even when it is given to them as plain as can be.
Brothers and sisters, I can see you are still wondering in your hearts, and it makes me sad to have to talk about this. If you would listen to the Spirit that teaches people to pray, you would know that you must pray. The evil spirit does not teach people to pray, but teaches them not to pray.
But you must always pray, and not give up. You should not do anything for the Lord without praying to the Father in Christ’s name first to bless what you do, so that what you do will be for the good of your soul.
