Second Nephi — Chapter 12
(See Isaiah 2)
This is what Isaiah, Amos’s son, saw would happen to Judah and Jerusalem.
In the last days, God’s temple will be built in the top of the mountains, and people all over the earth will come to it.
Many people will say: “Come, let’s go to God’s temple so he can teach us his ways, and we will keep his commandments.” His law will come from Zion, and his revelations will come from Jerusalem.
He will judge among nations and settle problems among many people. They will take all their weapons and turn them into useful tools. Nations will not fight each other nor will they learn war anymore.
O House of Jacob, come follow God’s light. Yes, come, because you are all going the wrong way, and you are doing wicked things.
O Lord, this is why you have left your people, the House of Jacob–because they listen to false prophets like the Philistines, and believe in magic, and do what unbelievers do.
Their land is full of silver and gold, and countless riches, and they have many horses and countless chariots.
They also have many false gods, and they worship the statues they make with their own hands.
Both the poor and rich do not worship you, and all people suffer for it. Do not let them do these things!
O you wicked people, go into caves and hide in the ground from God’s glory. Your fear of him will destroy you.
All the proud people will be humbled. Only God will have glory on the day he comes.
All the proud nations of the earth, and all the proud people will be humbled on the day the Lord comes.
Yes, that day will make even the proud cedar trees of Lebanon humble, and the proud oak trees of Bashan,
And all the high mountains and hills, and all the proud nations and people,
And all the tall buildings, and high walls,
And all the ships on the sea, and the ships from Tarshish, and all the lands which are pretty to see.
All people’s pride will be made to bow down low, and only the Lord will have glory on that day.
The Lord will get rid of false gods once and for all.
People will run and hide from the Lord’s great glory in caves and in the cracks of the rocks on the day he comes and makes the whole earth afraid.
On that day, people will throw away the false gods of gold and silver they made to worship.
They will run and hide from the Lord’s great glory in caves and in the cracks of the rocks on the day he comes and makes the whole earth afraid.
Do not pay attention to these weak people — what use are they?
