First Nephi — Chapter 6

¹ Now I, Nephi, am not going to write down my genealogy on these plates at all, because my father has already written it down.
² But I will say we are descendants of Joseph.
³ It does not matter that I cannot write everything my father has written, because I want to use the room on these plates to write down the things of God.
⁴ I want to write things that will help people come to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and be saved.
⁵ The things I write are not what the world wants me to write, but they are the things God wants me to write. The things I write will make people happy who keep God’s commandments.
⁶ I will command my descendants to use these plates only for writing things which will help save people.
